I arrived with Vampirate Lynn Montejo of Anne Rice Phils around 10PM and was met by an already tipsy Nick, all smiling Dante and Diana, caffeine chugging Paul,Pirate It couple Rej and Oneal who somehow dreadlocked his goatee (Rastafarin, mon!).Chugged down Beer no.1 and 2 cancer sticks.
A few minutes later the BPP crew walks in led by the Absolutely Fabulous Fabellas,Pirate Babe of the Night Chiqui,Captain Simbabeej and Captain Elizagoth Swann.By that time i was in the middle of Beer no.3 and 3 more cancer sticks.Decided to change in to my normal BigSkyMind getup before the music and dancing kicks off.Ran into Captain Paolo Jalbuena of The USS Kalayaan along with Lt.TuMark and Ensign Alec Palomo (hope these guys brought IDs.)
By then Analog kicks off the festivities with the mesmerizing vocals of Anabel Bosch who didn't show any signs of fatigue (You rock, girl!).Intermission and refills plus more cancer sticks,Kess and Juno begins their acoustic set with Fleetwood Mac and finishes off with Led Zeppelin.By this time.Commodore Norringtom calls attention to orders with the arrest of the Pirate Captain Hank Sparrow with charges of bad personal hygeine and despicable fashion sense among other things. Then I had beer no.5,rum no.1 and a Dominican Havana no.4.
The Ronnies launch their set with The Romantics' Talking in your Sleep,Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl,Sheena Easton's Telephone with the legendary Cooky Chua and Lynn Sherman,John Cougar Mellencamp's Hurt So Good with Stephen Lu on vocals,Scandal's The Warrior.Captain Hank's special request-For Father,The Voltes V ending theme has everyone swooning and singing, plus their encore got the pirates living a pastel colored moment -Gary V.'s Growing Up from Bagets.
Its 3AM-Jolliver starts the grunge and alternative segment of the party, which surprised the NWA crew that I was familiar with this era.( I listen to Pearl Jam,Stone Temple Pilots,Radiohead,Soundgarden,The Smashing Pumpkins,Blind Melon,The Gin Blossoms too, guys).Lynn Sherman belts out Amy Winehouse's Rehab (yeah,I listen to her too) and the Beatles classic Come Together.Around this moment my head is drooping and its time for me to cast off back to Lawrence,Kansas. My head was spinning with all the alcohol consumed,my lungs seriously abused with all the nicotine,my throat raw and parched from all the singing and it was one of the best parties ever.Thank Ye,Captain Sparrow for the festivities.
On a final note. For the people who were wondering who is my character with a hockey stick,a blasting rod,a 9mm pistol in a gunbelt and a gloved hand-it was my feeble attempt to combine the literary and tv version of Harry Dresden-Wizard,Warden and Private Investigator.A case of too early too soon.I really have to work on a pirate costume.Have one in mind already.
Anyone got a spare scimitar?
